How a flare gun works. Artwork: From US Patent #2,356,709: Flare Gun by John R. Smith, 1942, courtesy of US Patent and Trademark Office.. Flare guns fire cartridges packed with colorful chemicals. These two illustrations are patent artworks for a World War II model flare gun, invented in 1942 by John R. Smith for the Harrington & Richardson company and patented in 1944, and Henry Coston's much ...
Flare Gun Background • Signal flares first patented as “Pyrotechnic Night Signals” in 1859 by Martha Coston • Flare guns exist in 12 gauge, 25 mm, 37 mm and many other larger calibers • I evaluated 12 gauge which represents the lower end of flare gun energies
A flare gun, also known as a Very pistol or signal pistol, is a large bore handgun that discharges flares. The flare gun is used to create illumination for improved vision or as a distress signal.A flare gun can be used as a deadly weapon; however, that is not its intended function.
The father of the modern flare gun is generally held to be Edward Very (1847 1910), although Benjamin Franklin Coston invented a similar, earlier flare gun. Very was an officer in the U.S. Navy, and in 1877, he designed a short barreled, 10 gauge pistol in which a flare could be easily loaded into the breech and fired.

This particular flare gun is the GECO Flare Gun which is commonly referred to as simply the German Flare Gun by most collectors. This would be a 1960 era flare gun, with the manufacturing materials and methods taking you back to the era where people took pride in complicated designs.
My very best congratulations for this great work! I was very surprised and mostful happy to find it on the Net! It gives me so much information about lost or missing parts especially for russian machineguns!I dont speak or can read russian but i can read a technical drawing and there are a lot of helpful drawings! Most times i made some parts copied from pics or loaned ones cause spare parts ...
This adapter triples the utility of the Tac D; turning it into a shoulder mounted launcher in minutes. Without a stock it becommes a long barreled pistol. The adapter uses the alignment recess in the rear of the Tac D receiver to assure accurate positioning so tht any AR compatible stock can be used. The pistol grip is AR standard too.
